Did you know More than1 out of every 10 of our neighbors will be turning to Second Harvest Food Bank for food this holiday season. – This year’s Holiday Food Drive goal is 2 million pounds of food – Help us take a huge bite out of hunger today

Thank You Volunteers Please read and review carefully the following information pages. (there area a total of 8 pages including the title) Key areas to remember: This is the Safeway Nationwide Food Drive and they are supporting the Food Bank Because of you hungry people will be fed Please make sure you use the Donor Tracking form if you take a monetary donation Remember no turkeys in the barrels - tell the donors to take them personally to our distribution sites

Volunteer Overview Saturday, November 22, 2014 Getting Ready Times can be determined by volunteers (all day, part day, etc. even 2 hours is OKAY) Volunteers will hand out a flyer with a personal request for customers to purchase $10 pre-packed bags Stores will set up a bag display in the front of the store, near an entrance The list and value of the food items in the pre-packed bag will be on large display signs, the bags themselves and on your flyers Second Harvest Food Barrels will be placed in the stores The drive runs from November 5 to December 25 The Day Of Ask for the manager on duty Let them know you are volunteering on behalf of Second Harvest Food Bank so that they can give you flyers for distribution Position yourself at the entrance of the store, smile and have fun! Ask customers if they would like to support the Food Bank to help feed hungry people during the holidays by purchasing a $10 pre-packed bag of groceries Hand them a flyer describing food items in the grocery bag Tell them to take a bag and pay for it at the check stand and then place the bag in the Food Bank barrel Thank them a lot All food in barrels will be picked up by the Food Bank; no volunteer is to transport food of any kind

Important Questions FAQ’s What if there are no flyers to pass out when we arrive at Safeway? -Call Jenn Nguyenly (408)266-8866 x345 or 408-390-2224 What do we do if customers want to make a cash or check donation? -Accept the cash/check and have donor fill out the donation tracking form. If a donor does not wish to fill out their information, write Anonymous under the Donor Name of the donation tracking form. The donations and the form need to be brought back to Second Harvest Food Bank on Saturday, November 23. Please call Jennie Nguyenly at 408-266-8866 ext 345 or 408-390-2224, or Crystal Ulrich at 510-610-4717 to make arrangements. How long will the barrels be at Safeway? -The drive runs from November 16 to December 25 What if customers want to donate perishable items like frozen turkeys or produce? -They can bring them directly to the Food Bank. Hours for November 23 : 750 Curtner Ave. San Jose, CA 8am-8pm -1051 Bing St. San Carlos, CA 8am-1pm How do I register for a Food and Fund Drive so I can have food collection barrels at my place of work, congregation or my child’s school? -Call our Donor Hotline: 866-234-3663 1.What if there are no flyers to pass out when we arrive at Safeway? Sample Flyer Hunger Bag Items Bags will be sold for $10 each and include the following items: One can of Bumble Bee Chunk Light Tuna, 5 oz. One bag of Pantry Essentials Pasta, 12 oz. One can of Hunts Pasta Sauce, 24 oz. One can of Del Monte Family Size Veg, 28 oz. One jar of Skippy Peanut Butter, 16.3 oz. One box of Kraft Mac N’ Cheese, 7.25 oz. One can of Safeway Condensed Soup Chicken Noodle OR Tomato, 10.75 oz.
