3 Cataloguing CBS software: Release 4.1 (November 2008) –export using SRU Record Update –improved script and Unicode support CBS software: Release 5.0 (by March 2010) –import of data, using SRU Record Update, from WorldCat and from local library systems Resource Description & Access (RDA): –Libraries Australia will support the creation and exchange of RDA compliant data –RDA standard is expected in early 2010 –implementation by Library of Congress not yet announced 3

5 The Australian National Bibliographic Database Currently 20M bibliographic records, 47M holdings Global holdings updates for 68 member libraries in 2008/09 Commenced a project to harvest 180,000 Tables of Contents from Library of Congress ANBD Coverage Survey: –responses have been followed up with university and state libraries –map collection issues have been followed up –in 2010 there will be a focus on special collections 5

6 Removal of duplicate records So far 50,000 duplicates have been removed using the CBS software Removal using ISBN matching has commenced 2500 duplicates will be removed each night for at least 3 months 6

7 Document Delivery Last year: 318,000 ILL requests (up 3%) Major program of ISO ILL inter-operability testing continues VDX software: Release 3.2.1 (Dec. 2008) –drop down action menu –simplified reporting –pop-up calendars VDX software: Release 4.1 (by March 2010) –improved user interface Discussions with OCLC on inter-operability with WorldCat Resource Sharing 7
