What is BCRPA? Fitness Program BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) is the provincial voice for the parks, recreation and cultural sector. We inspire and support community leaders and practitioners to build and sustain healthy communities. We do this through advocacy, communication and education with a diverse network of partners. We administer the nationally recognized Fitness Registration Program created in 1984; established to facilitate leadership development and public awareness of the importance of fitness & healthy lifestyles 3,000+ registered fitness professionals

The BCRPA Fitness Advisory Council is made up of eight volunteer members elected every two years by the Fitness Leaders in their region. Council members act as regional representatives and spokespeople for the leaders in their regions. What is the Fitness Advisory Council?

Fitness Program Recognized Fitness Theory Course This course covers such topics as Anatomy, Physiology, Biomechanics and Nutrition National Fitness Theory Exam Administered in all provinces with a required 80% passing grade Recognized Specialty Module Course Practical application of leadership skills and principles of exercise prescription Instructor Competency Evaluation (ICE) Practical examination of on-floor teaching skills and competence Current CPR and First Aid How do I become Registered?

Fitness Program 2 Year renewal criteria: 16 continuing education renewal credits 70 hours of fitness instruction CPR (minimum Heartsaver Level A) annually First Aid every 2 years How do I keep my Registration Current?
