A little B.I.T. goes a long way Introduction to B.I.T. B.I.T. (Bullying Intervention Training) trains teachers, non teaching staff & other professionals to be able to provide preventative anti-bullying training to young people Teachers & other professionals will attend a 3 hour training programme delivered by Kidscape trainers Each teacher/professional is then required to facilitate a half day workshop to pupils within their own school / setting All training / access to resources / support provided free of charge

Supports your existing P.S.H.E. programme & associated projects Strengthens your anti-bullying work with pupils Meets the proposed OFSTED changes to the inspection process…. ‘’We propose to judge pupils behaviour & safety by giving particular attention to: their attendance & punctuality at school & in lessons; their behaviour & attitudes towards others, and respect for other young people & adults, including the way pupils treat one another; how well they are protected from bullying and the views of pupils, parents & carers’’ Provides bullied young people and those at risk of being bullied with the skills necessary to keep them safe & improve their confidence levels Enables those bullying others to recognise the effect of their behaviour & to consider ways of controlling their aggression

A little B.I.T. goes a long way Process Summary School selects teachers and other staff to attend the 3 hour B.I.T. training programme Teachers and other staff attend a 3 hour training programme Teachers & Senior Management Team identify a minimum of 10 pupils (aged 13-16 years), per trained professional, who will benefit from the programme Within a term of attending the programme, the trained professionals will facilitate the B.I.T programme to a group of selected pupils Kidscape will evaluate the effectiveness of the training intervention 3 months later

A little B.I.T. goes a long way What’s Next? 1.Discuss this fully funded training programme with your S.M.T. 2.Consider the benefits of this programme for your pupils 3.Contact the B.I.T. regional trainer to arrange a meeting to discuss the programme in detail 4.Reflect on your anti-bullying policy & procedures to see how the B.I.T. programme can provide further evidence of best practice within your school
