Webcasting & Videoconferencing
16
Videoconferencing vs. Webcasting
Videoconferencing- interactive, over ISDN lines or internet, usually point to point unless there is a multi-point bridge Webcasting- point to multi-point, not as interactive, over internet lines
17
Virtual Conferencing Advantages Less strain on participants
Generally reliable More efficient than physical meetings Conveniently located Easy to record and distribute
18
Virtual Conferencing Disadvantages
No eye-contact. Give incorrect impression of avoidance Camera conscious. People become more aware of their physical appearance.
19
Staging & backdrops
20
Staging Risers generally come in 2 sizes 4’ x 8’ or 4’ x 6’ (depends on supplier) Heights are based on 8” increments Most venues provide stages at no cost Stages are rated for weight- so please let the supplier know if something heavy will be on the stage (piano, car, lots of people)
21
Carpeted and Non-carpeted
Staging Carpeted and Non-carpeted
22
Staging Special considerations
Dancers- must be non-carpeted smooth surface Drums- 8” carpeted riser (generally 8’ x 8’) If you have a lot of lighting, the stage should be at least 12’ deep, 16’ is preferred If you are hanging a banner or sign the stage should as wide or wider than the width of the banner

Backdrops Drape- black, blue, grey, white Printed backdrops
