You may check out up to 3 books or 2 books and a magazine at a time IF you are in good standing with the library. The check out period is 3 weeks. There is a grace period of one week. Magazines and Reference materials can only be checked out overnight and must be returned before 9 AM the next day. WE DO CHARGE FINES!
5
If you lose a book or have a fine, you are REQUIRED to pay for it. The charge will follow you to high school and may impact your future. If you turn in a book late, you will be charged 5 cents each day for each book. The maximum charge is $5.00 per book. If you turn in a magazine or reference book late, the charge is 25 cents each day. To keep fines from getting larger, turn in your overdue item(s) as soon as possible!
6
Your language arts teacher will bring you once every three weeks for a lesson and checkout. Between these visits you are welcome to visit the library during classes as long as you have a pass from a teacher or administrator. You may also visit first thing in the morning and right after school.
7
If you come to the library on a pass, you should use an official library pass that looks like this:
8
When you arrive in the library, come immediately to the circulation desk. Place your signed pass in the basket on the circulation desk.
9
After you drop your pass off, you will need to sign in on the laptop at the circulation desk.
10
BOB – Battle of the Books – is a reading competition team where students read selected books, compete in-house, then challenge other schools. Your language arts teacher will have sign up sheets for BOB coming soon... Meetings will be held during Lunch and Learn.

Virginia Readers’ Choice is EASY! Just read 4 books off the VRC shelf before April 1 st and take the AR quiz for each book. In April, tell us which book was your favorite. In May, get invited to a party in the library.
12
Accelerated Reader Wild Card Raffle Tickets When you finish reading a book, take the AR quiz. If you get an 80% or better, let us know. We will give you a raffle ticket to fill out. Put your completed ticket in the bucket on the circulation desk. Several times a month, we will draw names and issue prizes.
13
New books will not have AR quizzes. You CAN still take quizzes on any book in the library that is labeled AR. We will be looking into alternatives for new books.
14
Before you can use any of the really cool features in our catalog, you need to know your username and password. REMEMBER: USERNAME = your student ID number PIN (Password) = the last four digits of your student number.
15
Online renewal: You can renew your books online up to three times IF you do not have any overdue books or fines. Online hold: You can place a book on hold through the catalog. Please limit holds to books that are checked out. If you place a hold on an available book, we will not fill it. Email: Give us your email address, and you can receive reminders about overdue books.

With a class? Your teacher is responsible for you. On a pass? Find one of the members of the library staff and follow her directions. Use the 8 th hallway door and exit the building by the bus loop.
