3. Specific : Example General: Do good in Spanish class. SPECIFIC: I will get an A in Spanish 2b this trimester.

4. Measurable To determine whether your goal is measurable ask: –How much (growth, grades, Spanish)? –How many (ACTFL levels, students)? –How will I know when it is accomplished?

5. Attainable What is your plan? How will you achieve this goal? Establish a time frame

6. Realistic Your goal must represent an object toward which you are willing and able to work on. –Do you truly believe it can be accomplished? –Have I accomplished similar goals in the past? –What would have to happen in order to achieve the goal?

10. Examples of SMART goals I will speak only Spanish 100% of the time once I walk in the door everyday. I will complete 90% of the homework on time each week. I will be a positive, kind, accountable, on task member of the classroom community I will strive to reach Novice High by the end of the year. I will participate to the best of my ability 100% of the time by staying in Spanish and asking others to as well. I will pass Spanish 2a with a C or higher at the end of the third trimester. I will write down and learn a new Spanish vocabulary word from class each day.
