2 Habasit I Project Triangle 2SMART Tactics I Schoolcraft I October 2013 Resources / Time Cost Scope Must remain an equilateral triangle. If one side is adjusted, all sides adjust to compensate.

3 Habasit I SMART Goals and Tactics S Specific State exactly what needs to be accomplished (Who, What, Where, Why) M Measurable Be able to demonstrate and evaluate the extent to which the goals have been met. (From and to?) A Attainable Set challenging goals within ability to achieve desired outcome. (Feasible?) R Realistic Must contain objectives which you’re are both willing and able to work toward. To be realistic, you must truly believe it can be accomplished. (Visualize Success) T Timely Must be grounded within a time frame. Break targets into manageable “by when” dates to guide goals into completion (When?) 3SMART Tactics I Schoolcraft I October 2013

4 Habasit I How to Write S.M.A.R.T. Tactics Specific Strategic MeasurableAttainable Action Oriented Realistic Results Focused Timed and Tracked Describe Possible Evidence Clearly state the end goal. Define how success or failure is measured? How will the goals be accomplished? Are they attainable? What action is required? Make sure goals are realistic and can be reasonably accomplished. Be specific when defining the date each phase of the goal is expected to be completed. (9/30/13 vs. 3 rd Quarter 2013) How will you know when your goal has been reached and whether or not the impact was as expected? Identify exactly how the project will look if it’s successful. Pick measurement intervals (weekly, quarterly, daily etc) Are the goals attainable with current resources? If not, list costs to be incurred. Ensure responsible parties are empowered to achieve desired results Follow up measurements must be defined to monitor performance after project completion Avoid generalities and vagueness, be concise, succinct and clear Report all measurements, positive and negative. Identify who is responsible for executing each tactic. Identify any higher level departmental or organizational goal this project can be tied to. 4SMART Tactics I Schoolcraft I October 2013
