HEALTH IN CLATSOP COUNTY In Clatsop County, 60% of residents are either overweight or obese Highest disease rates in Clatsop County: 1.Heart disease 2.Diabetes 3.Cancer

WHAT IS HEALTH Health: the condition of being sound; having a solid physical, mental, and social-emotional state of being -In Oregon, one of the top 10 causes of death is suicide “Wellness should be viewed as the total wellbeing of an individual, and not the absence of illness.”

ALARMING WORKPLACE STATISTICS : Fact: Sitting 6 hours a day can reduce your life by 15 years Fact: Standing verse sitting can burn 625 more calories a day Fact: 70% of illnesses can be prevented in the United States Fact: Smokers, on average, miss 6.16 days of work per year due to sickness (including smoking related acute and chronic conditions), compared to nonsmokers, who miss 3.86 days Fact: George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services (SPHHS) indicates that the U.S. lost almost $40 billion in 2010 due to job-related injuries in low-income workers.
