Name the sources of power. Can you describe what happens?
2
Renewable and non renewable energy
Objectives Identify a range of renewable energy sources and understand the benefits and drawbacks of them in comparison to non-renewable sources. Outcomes (C) Identify positives and negatives about each source. (B) Explain advantages and disadvantages of different methods. (A) Evaluate the use of renewable energy sources as a realistic alternative to non-renewable sources. Key terms: renewable, solar, geothermal, wind, hydroelectric, tidal, wave.
3
Renewable and non renewable energy
Tidal Hydroelectric Nuclear Solar Wind Which is the odd one out? Outcomes (C) Identify positives and negatives about each source. (B) Explain advantages and disadvantages of different methods. (A) Evaluate the use of renewable energy sources as a realistic alternative to non-renewable sources. Nuclear It is non-renewable. Key terms: renewable, solar, geothermal, wind, hydroelectric, tidal, wave.

Renewable and non renewable energy
Outcomes (C) Identify positives and negatives about each source. (B) Explain advantages and disadvantages of different methods. (A) Evaluate the use of renewable energy sources as a realistic alternative to non-renewable sources. Task Create a table of renewable and non-renewable energy sources. Key terms: renewable, solar, geothermal, wind, hydroelectric, tidal, wave.

Renewable energy The residents of a small island in the Pacific need your help… their only power station, a gas-fired station has only 5 more years to run before it is decommissioned. You have to plan their power generation for the next 50 – 100 years, for as cheap, as safe, as easy, and unobtrusive as possible. YOU have to decide what is important. YOU are the boss. YOU will make the decisions to shape lives. Don’t let the power go to your head!

Renewable energy What was important What did you ignore? to you?
Outcomes (C) Identify positives and negatives about each source. (B) Explain advantages and disadvantages of different methods. (A) Evaluate the use of renewable energy sources as a realistic alternative to non-renewable sources. What was important to you? What did you ignore? Why did you choose that? Did you mix and match, or just use one thing? Key terms: renewable, solar, geothermal, wind, hydroelectric, tidal, wave.
