Given that Many young people are interested in computing; note:  General attraction of computers  Popularity of computer games  Ubiquitous computer-aided learning (at all grade levels, including pre- school)  Other... Only a few, however, are pursuing IT related curricula  Computer science: “I’m just not that good at Math”; “I don’t want to spend my life in a cubicle”; IT jobs are being outsourced”;...  Other majors: “You mean I can do computing without having a CS degree?”  Over the years, the vast majority of MIS/CIT majors have transferred in from other degree programs IT hiring recently reached an all-time high (beyond the late 1990s!) It therefore appears that If only potential students (i.e., HS and JHS students) were aware of career opportunities for non-CS majors Then we’d be flooded with students seeking our CIT degrees
