2. ~Duties~  Transferring and replicating data  Maintaining database and user availability  Maintaining data dictionary (repository of information about data)  Controlling privileges and permissions granted to users  Monitoring database performance  Managing database backup, recovery, and security

3.  Generally 37 – 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday  Chance for on-call duties outside of normal office hours (to deal with technical issues)  Two “site” possibilities a) Work for a company, manage their database(s) b) Travel to meet clients, build database(s) for other organizations

Variable depends on level of education (degree) plus number of specialized certifications and years of experience Less than one year of experience: $35,000 to $50,000 One to four years of experience: $40,000 to $65,000 Five to nine years of experience: $55,000 to $80,000 Ten to nineteen years of experience: $65,000 to $95,000 Over twenty years of experience: $75,000 to $100,000 Overall Average: $55,000 to $85,000 (above nationwide average salaries) Bachelor’s Degree Average: $65,000 Master’s Degree Average: $90,000 *Some states in the U.S. pay higher than others, e.g. California and N.Y. (average $85,000)*
