Basic details of program. 1) On-the-job training. 2) Pay dues of $22.00 per month. 3) Annual 40 hours at the Training Center. 4) Minimum of 650 hours with each contractor. 5) Complete three college classes – Human Relations, Labor History, and Technical Writing. a) Relates to CDP academic integration.

Benefits for the applicant. 1)Wages start at 60% (or 50% in Ashland area) of journeyman scale. 2)Receive a 5% every six months. 3)Provides hotel rooms and mileage for those living 75 miles or more from the Training Center. 4)Basic benefits are included.

22. What Councils Are Saying  Not impressed with NCCER curriculum.  Do not want sex offenders.  Concerned with “no shows”.  Have discussed articulation agreements.  Views the KCTCS curriculum as an up-to-date and solid training program.

23. An Example Of An Employer’s Involvement  Student from Northpoint. Case worker called – individual was scheduled to be released in two days. Had experience in the food industry. Wanted to locate in Lexington. Arranged an interview with Chili’s.

24. An Example Of A Non-Profit Agency Involvement  Student from Northpoint. Lexington Rescue Mission. 1) Health clinic. 2) Housing services. 3) Employment services.

25. An Example Of Offenders Continuing Their Education  Two more individuals into BCTC.  One was a returning student.  One was a first time to an outside school.

26. Where To Go From Here  Get DOC involved.  Continue to build linkages with agencies.  Continue to build linkages with employers.  Class d offenders and others into the program.
