5 Conference Purpose and Goal 0 Learning by Design Conference 2015 is a district-wide professional development conference for educators in Dorchester School District Two where as a professional learning community we emphasize learning, build a collaborative culture, and focus on results to become a "World Class" school district. 0 The overall goal of Learning by Design 2015 is to “raise the bar” and address the most essential topics in education that will provide opportunities for educators to enhance their craft as a means to accomplish the mission and vision of the school district.

11 Communicating with Registrants 0 Presenters are asked to begin communication with registrants starting January 5, 2015 0 Communicate through ERO 0 Thank them for registering for the session 0 Let them know you are looking forward to the session 0 Provide any things they need to do in advance

18 The Day of the Event 0 Professional Dress 0 Check in at the Presenter Table—7 A.M. 0 Pick up Presenter name tags, list of registrants for sign in, session location, and other materials 0 Arrive to your assigned room 20 minutes in advance of your workshop to test your AV equipment, set up the room, etc. If there is something missing, do not panic 0 Step outside the room and flag down the nearest LBD Conference staff member. There will be staff checking every room to assist with connecting equipment and make sure everything works properly. 0 If you cannot help, please reference your presenter packet for communicating with the LBD Conference Staff. 0 Have a backup plan if technology fails

19 Day of the Event, continued 0 Call your room to attention at the designated workshop start time. 0 Please make sure your workshop begins on time. People will drop in and out of the presentation room throughout your workshop so please start on time. 0 Make sure to introduce all those presenting and the title of the workshop. 0 Make sure attendees sign the Session Attendance Sheet.

20 To ensure a successful experience: 0 Please help the Conference stay on time, and be respectful of those presenting after you. 0 Make sure you wrap up your workshop at the designated workshop end time. If conversation continues, invite those individuals to join you outside the room. 0 Most likely, there will be workshops immediately after you. It is important that you clean up your materials, set the room back to its original condition and move any lingering conversations outside of the room. Room must be returned to original setup, including chair arrangements! 0 If you submitted materials to be posted on the Learning by Design webpage, direct your attendees to the URL or have them scan the QR code in the Learning by Design Logo.

28 Summary 0 If designed and used correctly, sessions can be powerful educational experiences that can have tremendous impact on learners. 0 It is the responsibility of the designer and presenter to ensure that all the key characteristics of a workshop are included in the learning experience and that the fundamentals of adult learning are maximized to make it a positive experience for both participant and presenter.
