Reading Reading Log Response Cards White Boards Vocabulary Game day

Reading Reading Log – Students read for 30 min. every night. They can read anything. Some examples are: Newspaper Bible Novel Comic books Books they read to their children Online gossip magazines Outdoor Sportsmen magazines

Reading White Boards – Another form of response cards. We use white boards for reviewing different reading activities. Such as: Sequencing Story Elements Drawing Conclusions Cause and effect

Reading Vocabulary – Students are given vocabulary words every week and complete activities with these words.

One of the strategies we use for teaching vocabulary is Robert Marzano’s Building Academic Vocabulary.
