3. Measuring Success Children are assessed in reading, writing, speaking and listening, mathematics and science. The emphasis is on teacher judgement; The children can be assessed throughout the year; The tests are used to inform final teacher judgements.

5. How can you be sure we are levelling correctly? For all subjects we work from the National Curriculum Levels; We are provided with level descriptors to work from; We are closely monitored by the L.E.A. This year we are to be moderated

6. Reporting Report only teacher assessments to the L.E.A.; We are obliged to report to parents only the teacher assessment levels; Parents must have access to test results if requested.

7. What can you do a home? Continue with reading and asking questions about the story; Encourage the children to read ‘unseen’ texts; Read fiction and non-fiction books and talk about the differences.

8. Writing Practise spellings. Practise writing sentences with conjunctions in them. Practise writing sentences with different sentence starters. Practise cursive handwriting (letters starting on the line).

9. Maths Make number problems part of every day life. Practise times tables and number bonds. Practise totalling money, equivalent amounts and finding change.
