BC2: Creating a Resume How Employer’s Use Resumes: To decide who to interview. To skim/scan for key words. To use as an example of your work. To prepare questions for the interview.

BC2: Creating a Resume Name, Address, Email and Phone. Career Objective or Position Sought Make it like job a description an employer might use in a job listing. Job title or short to-infinitive statement. Put it after your address, before the first major heading.

BC2: Creating a Resume Summary of Qualifications: Show your knowledge of specialized terminology of your field, and offer specific quantifiable achievements. Accounting experience. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, audits, and month-end closings. Prepared monthly financial reports. Good presentation skills. Given 20+ individual and team presentations to groups ranging from 5 to 100.

BC2: Creating a Resume Education: (Cont.) Reverse chronological order Drop high school once graduated from college; never include primary school. Include study abroad. List professional certifications under ‘Education’ or in a separate category. Include your GPA (if it’s good).

BC2: Creating a Resume Activities: include… Volunteer work. Participation in organized groups that demonstrates leadership, teamwork, or specialized skills related to the job you’re applying for. Student government. School clubs. Intramural sports. Religious groups. Membership in professional associations.
