2 Technology Programme Autumn 2005 Competition Rules  All applications must involve an industrial collaboration – there must be at least two partners, at least one of which must be an industrial/commercial organisation  Funding is available at up to:  75% for Basic Research (50% for B2B)  50% for Applied Research  25% for Experimental Development  Grants are paid quarterly in arrears against actual spending  All projects are monitored through quarterly reporting and the appointment of a Monitoring Officer

4 Technology Programme Autumn 2005 1. An industrially driven consortium with a clear commercial opportunity and objective within 5-7 years 2. An element of market failure which prevents autonomous progress 3. A technically innovative project which will overcome the market failure in 2-4 years 4. Achievable market exploitation and spill-over benefits The Ideal Project

5 Technology Programme Autumn 2005 Don’t:  Include partners that you don’t have agreement from  Force-fit partners just to make the consortium look good  Leave it too late to commence discussions with potential partners Some do’s & don’ts of forming your consortium Do:  Ensure that your consortium can meet the project objectives  Consider the supply chain (in both directions)  Include partners that will be committed all the way through the process  Contact the DTI Technology Manager if you are having difficulty

41 Technology Programme Autumn 2005 Forms need to be uploaded by Midnight on the 6 th February 2006. Je-S academic Finance Forms need to be submitted by 4pm on the 6th February 2006. Notes: The server will be busy on the closing date and you may experience delays in uploading. It is advisable to upload your Application prior to the closing date, you can overwrite them. Applications arriving after the deadline will NOT be accepted.
