National competition offering grant awards based on YOUR innovative prototypes. Projects should offer solutions to real-world challenges facing the Egyptian industry. The competition has two phases: ◦ 15 projects will be selected to participate in the competition. ◦ 15 selected projects will compete in the SRDA final ceremony where an evaluation committee will select the top 5 winners.

SRDA is collaboration between Samsung, The International Youth Foundation (IYF), and Nahdet El Mahrousa’s incubated project the Young Innovators’ Awards (YIA) Program. Step 2: Check SRDA application guidelines You can submit more than one project Project should be recommended by a reference person Submitted using SRDA Application Form Submissions must be in English Typed using an Arial font (size 11) Should not exceed 10 pages Pages should be numbered Project title should be kept as brief as possible Must be in MSWord or PDF format only

Step 3: Submit Application Ensure that all parts of the Application Form are complete and signed prior to submission Make sure the title of your email and your attached document title include the project name All proposals must be submitted to syia@nahdetmasr.orgsyia@nahdetmasr.org All applications must be sent no later than Tuesday July 7 th 2009 by 12 am.

The following suggestions will help you in preparing your application: ◦ Plan logically ◦ Be precise and clear ◦ Define acronyms before using them ◦ Use tables and charts rather than lengthy word descriptions ◦ Keep sentences short, not more than 30 words in length ◦ A sentence should contain one idea or two related ideas ◦ A paragraph should contain a series of related ideas ◦ It is up to you to convince the evaluation committee that your project deserves to be funded ◦ Describe your project in a comprehensible and understandable manner ◦ After writing your application, ask a colleague/teammate to proof read it for clarity ◦ Spelling and grammatical errors negatively affect how your application is evaluated ◦ Avoid using fancy font colors in your application ◦ Keep it simple

1) Scientific Value (Innovation) (Max 25%) Clear and defined scientific approach to the addressed problem? Innovative scientific approach in tackling the addressed problem? 2) Feasibility & Relevance (Max 25%) Address important challenge(s) facing the Egyptian industry? Feasible/realistic ambitious objectives, suit the current capabilities of Egypt? 3) Research methodology and Presentation (Max 20%) Conceived and organized? Writing style, organization, flow of ideas, references and citation.

4) Literature survey (Max 10%) Add to the work previously done on the same topic ? Good literature survey conducted for similar ideas? 5) Team work (Max 10%) Clearly specify the roles and responsibilities of each team member? Quality of the team and skills offered by each of its members ? Number of team members seem reasonable? 6) Reasons for Consideration (Max 10%) Why this project is significant and how the applicant will benefit from SRDA funding.?
