2. How it happened? An Informal Consultation & Three Preparatory Meetings on GGIM Convened in 2009, 2010 and 2011 by UNSD in collaboration with UNCS Need of global mechanism on geospatial information management supported Preparation of a report on GGIM for ECOSOC initiated.

3. Resolutions (at 18th UNRCC-AP and 41st UN Statistical Commission ) A report should be prepared for ECOSOC on GGIM, including the possible creation of a UN forum on GGIM Decision (by ECOSOC in July 2010) Requests the Secretary-General to submit a report on GGIM to ECOSOC at its 2011 substantive session. How it happened? first high level forum on GGIM in October 2011 (Seoul, Korea)
