4. 1LD THE LORD’S DAY Those who say that there is no particular day for Christians to keep are not recognizing that God has a holy day that He says is His. This text does not sate the day of the week, but it does very definitely show that God does have a particular day that is His.

5. 2LD THE LORD’S DAY Does Jesus speak of a day? Matthew 12:8 “For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” The Lord’s day must of necessity be the day of which Jesus Christ is Lord. As Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath day, the Sabbath day must be the Lord’s day.

6. 3LD THE LORD’S DAY Which day is the Sabbath? Exodus 20:10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.

7. 3LD THE LORD’S DAY As the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord, the seventh day (Saturday) is the Lord’s day for us to keep. Since Sunday is the first day of the week, it cannot be the Sabbath or the Lord’s day, because God says that the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord.

8. 4LD THE LORD’S DAY What is required to make the Lord’s holy day? Exodus 20:11 LORDmade LORD hallowed itFor in six days the LORD made the heavens and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

9. 4LD THE LORD’S DAY The seventh day is the Lord’s holy day for man to keep because of four facts: (1) The Lord make the world in six days. (2) On the seventh day, or the last day of the week, He rested. (3) The Lord blessed the seventh day for man. (4) He sanctified or set apart, the seventh day for man.

10. 5LD THE LORD’S DAY Who created the earth and rested on the seventh day? Ephesians 3:9 who created all things through Jesus Christand to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ;

11. 5LD THE LORD’S DAY The Lord who made, rested, blessed, and sanctified the seventh day was the Lord Jesus Christ, God the Son. Since Jesus is the One who rested on the seventh day and blessed and sanctified that day for man, the seventh day is Christ’s day, the Lord’s day, the Sabbath of Christ. If we belong to Christ, then it is our sacred duty to keep holy the day that He blessed and made holy for us.

12. 6LD THE LORD’S DAY Which day did Jesus worship on when he was here on earth? Luke 4:16 HeHe His HeSo He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

13. 6LD THE LORD’S DAY When Christ lived here on earth, He kept the seventh day, Saturday, as God’s holy day. If we follow Christ in the matter of the day we keep, then we will keep the seventh day.

14. 7LD THE LORD’S DAY Is Jesus consistent? Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Christ is the same today. So if He were here on earth now as we are, He would keep the same day.

15. 8LD THE LORD’S DAY Did Moses institute the Sabbath day? Genesis 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. God doneHe 2- And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.

16. 8LD THE LORD’S DAY sanctified it created and made 3- Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it: because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

17. 8LD THE LORD’S DAY Christ the Creator blessed and set apart the seventh day as a holy day at the very beginning when He made the world for man. Hence the keeping holy of the seventh day is not some ordinance that was instituted by Moses and later abolished at the cross.

18. 9LD THE LORD’S DAY Is the Sabbath just for the Jews? Mark 2:27 madeAnd He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath. The Sabbath was not intended for the Jews only, but for all mankind just the same as the other 9 precepts of the Ten Commandments.

19. 10LD THE LORD’S DAY How do we know which is the seventh day? Mark 16:9 He He HeNow when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven devils.

20. 11LD THE LORD’S DAY Jesus arose on EASTER SUNDAY, the first day of the week. Mark 16:1,2 And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.

21. 11LD THE LORD’S DAY 2- Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen. The Sabbath was past when the women came to the tomb early in the morning on the first day of the week. The morning that Christ arose.

22. 12LD THE LORD’S DAY What day was Jesus crucified? Mark 15:42-44 Now when evening had come, because it was the Preparation Day, that is, the day before the Sabbath,

23. 12LD THE LORD’S DAY 43- Joseph of Arimathaea, a prominent council member, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, coming and taking courage, went in to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. 44- Pilate marveled that He was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if He had been dead for some time.

24. 13LD THE LORD’S DAY Jesus was crucified on the cross the day before the Sabbath, Friday. Luke 23:54-56 & 24:1 That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near.

25. 13LD THE LORD’S DAY Him His 55- And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid. 56- Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.

26. 13LD THE LORD’S DAY 1- Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.

27. 13LD THE LORD’S DAY The Sabbath, according to God’s commandment, came between the crucifixion on Friday, and the resurrection on Sunday. So the fourth of the Ten Commandments requires us to keep the seventh day, or Saturday, which comes between Friday and Sunday.

28. 13LD THE LORD’S DAY The seventh-day Sabbath of the fourth commandment was not abolished at the cross because in Luke 23:56 we read how the faithful disciples kept the Sabbath of the commandment after the crucifixion of Christ.

29. 14LD THE LORD’S DAY What is the sign between God and man? Ezekiel 20:12 sign sanctifiesMoreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

30. 14LD THE LORD’S DAY The Sabbath was given to be a two-fold sign of Jesus Christ as Creator and Redeemer. The Sabbath is a sign that Christ made the world in six days (Ex. 31:16,17), and by keeping it we show we accept Christ as our Creator. It is also a sign that Christ has the power to re-create us and sanctify us (Ezek. 20,12). It is a sign of His saving grace.

31. 15LD THE LORD’S DAY How long will the Sabbath be kept? Isaiah 66:22,23 new heavens and the new earth“For as the new heavens and the new earth Which I will make shall remain before Me,” says the LORD, “So shall your descendants and your name remain.

32. 15LD THE LORD’S DAY Sabbath worship 23- And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says the LORD. The seventh-day Sabbath will be kept forever in the new earth. The seventh- day Sabbath reaches from Eden lost to Eden restored, and is to be kept for eternity.
