Childhood  Daddy Yankee was raised in the neighborhood of Villa Kennedy Housing Projects.  He tried out for the Seattle Mariners, but before he could be signed he got hit by a stray round from a AK-47 riffle while taking a brake from his recording.  He was in recovery for 1 ½ years and the bullet was never removed and started to focus on his music career.
