2 What makes up a word? Denotation: the literal dictionary definition of a word. Springtime: means a period between March 21 and June 20. Conotaion: the emotion or association that a word or phrase may arouse. It is in effect all the other things that word has come to mean coming along with it for the ride. But it brings thoughts of: youth, energy, and life along with it.
