Assess Club problems?, lack of interest or motivation? Before any major attempt to recruit is tried, there are several steps that need to be taken at the club level. Club Atmosphere Would you join your Club? Can it be improved? Would you invite your boss to your meeting? Are there problems, lack of interest or motivation?

Once the Club and you are satisfied that you are ready to host prospective Kin, your Club will have some decisions to make. What type of meeting will you have? Regular Meeting Sports Activity Death By Chocolate Appreciation Night Invite the spouses Club Meeting

Is Everyone in Favour? Don’t proceed until the entire club is behind this effort. Club must agree that it wants new members. Everyone must be part of the effort and atmosphere. Approach Membership Recruitment as a club project. Be positive ! Club Support

Not everyone is a recruiter, however everyone can help. Assign/have members volunteer for specific tasks. Letters, calls, preparation, pick up of guests, name badges, fellowship Activities, welcoming committee, mentors, speakers, activity coordinators, Food and snacks, beverages, etc. Roles to Play

There are a myriad of membership drives that you could try, however the most successful are those originated by the club itself. Here are a few proven ways to get prospective members to attend: Membership Drive

Club assembles long list of potential Kin and their addresses. Letter from Club sent to everyone inviting them to a special evening/meeting or function. Each Member of the Club responsible to follow up with phone call to potential Kin. Letter Campaign

Promote this evening/function well in advance to all of your members Bring out a guest, you and your guest eat steak and all the trimmings. Don’t bring out a guest, and you will be served beans …canned beans…cold. Steak n’ Beans

Special evening/function to recognize former members/presidents/charter members, etc. Many Kin are not aware that age limit has changed. Many are as well waiting to be asked out again. Have a special evening planned, and ask former members to consider re-joining. Member Appreciation

Most commonly used method to bring in new members. Set a night to bring out new members and encourage entire club to bring someone out. Bring out the new members !! Bring-A-Buddy

Use local media to promote membership drive. Could use shopping mall displays/projects to promote Kin. Use recruiting brochures, public service announcements, etc. Use posters and brochures and ask people to join. Media Blitz

Ask local area clubs for help. Ask District/National to assist you. More than likely there are Kin somewhere that know someone/related to someone in your jurisdiction. Club Assistance

There are several key and important suggestions to assist your club with recruitment, as well as retention and public relations. Some may work in your club, others may not. It is up to your club to decide what is best for you. Key Suggestions

Use the Kin Canada Success Fund outline as a starting point. Many clubs who have started the process to apply for this dues-relief program have found success. Contact Deb Moxam at National. Have a plan

Use your Service Account for Membership Initiatives You may use Service Dollars to promote your Club. You may use Service Dollars to pay for prospective member’s meals. Save your General Account for conferences and member’s appreciation. Service Account

When you ask your prospective Kin out to a meeting, ask them to bring someone else along. Prospective Members feel more at ease. Your Club grows faster. Double the Fun

Divide your Club into three or four groups Pick “Recruiting Teams” Agree to year-end prize Report every meeting Football Draft

Set your Club’s Growth Goal at a regular meeting. Make sure it is realistic yet aggressive. Place a growth chart (thermometer bulb type) in plain sight for all to see each meeting. Keep it up to date. Growth Chart

Elect a Club Membership Director for your Club Ensure they follow the Club Membership Director Checklist found on the Club Membership CD Club Membership Director
