17  Critique In the early 1940s, because of the World War Two, people may be lack of the interest in academic study, and the authors maybe feel necessary to enlarge their vocabulary effectively and efficiently. But it seems a little bit exaggerated, and people may doubt that vocabulary can be really so easily enlarged in such a haste.

18 Optional discourse activities  Role play A is a bookseller and B is a potential buyer. Create a dialogue between A and B using what you have learned from the passage. Then act it out.  Creative writing Design an ad. for anything you like. Pay attention to your word choice to make it attractive.
