3. Vocabulary:
Art criticism- a systematic discussion of the characteristics of an art work, usually involving four stages: description, analysis, interpretation, and judgment

4. Art criticism does not involve:
Criticizing work
To critique a work of art ask yourself these question:
What do I enjoy about the work?
What would I change about the work?
How would I change what I do not like or agree with?

5. Read text: What is a movie critics job?
Do you always agree with a movie critics opinion?
Have your friends had better judgments of movies at times?
How does either criticism help you decide whether to watch a movie or not?
Professional Art Critics play a similar role in helping people decide whether or not to visit a gallery or museum exhibit.
Think of 4 reason you criticize art.
To learn about art, encourages you to determine what you like, enables you the ability to talk about art n an organized way,, helps you develop attitudes about life

by Roger Ebert "Traitor" weaves a tangled web of conspiracy and intrigue, crosses politics with thriller elements, and never quite answers its central question: In the war between good and evil, how many good people is it justifiable for the good guys to kill? Maybe that question has no answer. It is probably not "none."
If you saw the movie, do you agree or disagree with the critique and why?

8. Professional Criticism
Film Critics do not sell movies.
They tell the negative and the positive sides about a movie.
A criticism is sometimes called a review.
Identify these three faces:
What have the cartoonist, sculpture, and photographer suggested about the personality of each figure? (What do these pictures mean?)

9. What reasons would criticism be positive and negative?
Why should the skills used to practice nonprofessional criticism might be useful in other academic areas besides art?
How might the skills of critical thinking help gain a better understanding of the culture in which you live, particularly the visual world of advertising?

How was the message conveyed?
Did the add use ad use a combination of words and pictures, or just one or the other.
What hidden, or secondary message or messages did the ad contain?
