Pearson Digital Library A planned new CMS platform for BTS 2012 designed to address the need of students and instructors to search, preview, purchase, and then manage their ebook and digital media content. Search or browse through a large collection of Pearson eText titles and media content Access the Digital Library using a personal computer‘s web browser or mobile device Business Units can pre-defined collections or allow individual users to expand their bookshelf by subscription PLS can created custom libraries for individual institutions Initial release will be guided by the requirements of the US and Canadian Teacher Education and Canadian MBA teams, as well as the Nursing/Ready Point teams and focused on eText titles Sociology and History are looking to integrate DL with their MyLabs for BTS Future releases will include searching for Pearson media assets, collection personalizations and more.

Goals and features Planned new client for the eText Platform family - late Q4 Re-flowable, XML-based content as compared to existing fidelity-based eText. Great for mobile devices Will take advantage of existing eText platform integration and authentication capabilities. Bookshelves will be enhanced to support both traditional and re-flowable eText starting in v4.7.

Pearson eText: We already can view daily volume and visitor characteristics via Google Analytics * With new v4.5, all eText server events are being logged for analysis/reporting For each event, we capture Username, Book ID, Course ID, IP address, and Time Key server events: Pages viewed Create/save/share notes, highlights, and bookmarks Search activity e.g. words, phrases Access to rich media via hotspot and custom baskets Glossary term access Using LTG reporting tools, Business Units can learn: # of times a user entered an eText Length of user stay Page viewing sequence Use of book personalizations Use of interactive elements e.g. pop-ups, rich media assets, documents, etc. * Browser, O/S, Traffic Source, Flash, Screen res., Java Support, etc.
