WELCOME TO FAMILY ENGINEERING… EXPLORE OUR OPENERS
2
FAMILY ENGINEERING GOALS-ONGOING To validate parents as their child’s first and best teacher and to realize that parents know a lot about engineering and engage in engineering at home and work. To help parents become informed about the next generation science standards. To empower parents to take a leadership role in developing STEM related activities in their district. To participate in a Family Engineering program and to think about how this could be replicated back in your child’s district.
3
OPENER REFLECTION: What did you notice at the openers? How could this be used back in your district?
4
ICE BREAKER BINGO Have you ever done some engineering? Read through the “Bingo Sheet” to see the kinds of engineering you may have done. Find other people who have done some of the activities on the bingo card. Share your experiences with each other. Have them write their name on the box that they have done in the past. When the music stops-head on back to your seat.

ENGINEERING EXPERIENCES Agree or Disagree…
6
ENGAGING THE FAMILY… Get into teams of 5-6 Give one ballpoint pen to each person Give one paper plate to each person Individually take your pen apart.
7
PUTTING THE PENS BACK TOGETHER-ENGINEERING CHALLENGE Reverse Engineering Optimization
8
NEXT STEPS… Ask Imagine Plan Create Improve
9
SHARING YOUR BRIGHT IDEAS What questions would you want to know more about if you were going to do a Family Engineering Night? What are some possible times and place that you could host a Family Engineering Night? Who would you need with you to plan your plan?
