Do Nothing Intended Purpose: -too much government involvement would undermine individuality and self-reliance (being able to take care of yourself) Sound like any guys we learned about before?!

The Bonus Army What was it: -Thousands of WWI veterans and their families protested and camped out in Washington, DC, during June 1932

The Bonus Army Intended Purpose:
-they wanted immediate payment of a bonus that had been promised to them in 1924 -weren’t supposed to receive payment until 1945 Although offered money by Congress to return home, some members of the "Bonus army" remained. Washington police attempted to remove the demonstrators from their camp, but they were outnumbered and unsuccessful. Shots were fired by the police in an attempt to attain order, and two protesters were killed while many officers were injured. Hoover sent U.S. Army forces stop a march.

Hoovervilles What was it: -”shanty towns” made of tents and small shacks -built by homeless people during the Great Depression

Hoovervilles Intended Purpose:
-named after president Hoover as many blamed him for the Depression "Hoover blanket" (old newspaper used as blanketing) "Hoover flag" (an empty pocket turned inside out). "Hoover leather" was cardboard used to line a shoe when the sole wore through "Hoover wagon" was a car with horses hitched to it because the owner couldn’t afford fuel
