Creating an Atmosphere of... Holiness, Biblical Teachings, Hospitality and Godly Leadership 1 Corinthians 12:12 Sunday, October 17, 2010 Jim Beasley

1 CORINTHIANS 12:12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.

Creating an Atmosphere of... Holiness, Biblical Teachings, Hospitality and Godly Leadership 1 Corinthians 12:12 Sunday, October 17, 2010 Jim Beasley

Purity 1 John 3:1-3 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure. Purity actually means singleness of mind, to be guided by one purpose.

Purity Ephesians 5:3-5 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a man is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Holiness John 17:14-19 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. God has called us to a holy life and we must be committed to holiness.

Holiness What is a holy life? A holy life is one totally committed to God But how do we live a holy life? We need to be in complete obedience to God We need to communicate with our Lord in prayer We need to be immersed in God’s word because it holds the answers

Biblical Teaching We believe that the Bible is God’s inspired word 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Biblical Teaching We believe that it has the answers to everything we need for life and godliness. 2 Peter 1:3-4 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

Biblical Teaching We believe that the Bible is God made not man made. 2 Peter 1:20-21 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Biblical Teaching We believe that the Bible is inerrant. Hebrews 6:18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged.

Biblical Teaching We must be devoted to God’s Word. Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Acceptance/Non Judgemental Romans 15:7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. Romans 14:1 (The Message) Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don't see things the way you do. And don't jump all over them every time they do or say something you don't agree with—even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department. Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently.

Acceptance/Non Judgemental Matthew 7:1-2 Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Hospitality Romans 12:10-13 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Hospitality Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 1 Peter 4:9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging. Matthew 10:40,42 He that receives you receives me

Godly Leadership “Monkey see, monkey do.” 1 Corinthian 11:1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.
