Today’s topics: Video: Mock Trial State Competition 2011 Steps in a Trial State v. Randall Administrative Return papers Homework due next class: Complete preparation for State v. Randall Write at least 5 questions (each student) You should write the homework in your planner now. Grades for Mock Trial days will be based on your participation. Final grade for this unit will be equivalent to a TEST grade on the full Mock Trial you prepare/present

Steps in a Trial INDIVIDUALLY: Read “Handout 2A: Steps in a Trial”
Complete & hand in “Handout 2B: Trial Process and Steps in a Trial” Take a copy of State v. Randall and begin reading/highlighting Teacher stamps and returns completed Handout 2B as students turn them in. Teacher leads discussion of correct answers after all students have completed the work.

State v. Randall vs. Teams / Roles Teams Witnesses Attorneys
As a TEAM: Read/highlight the trial materials Prepare a theory of the case Work together to develop: Attorney questions (direct & cross) Witness answers (direct & cross) vs. Teams: Popsicle sticks Witnesses: 4 witnesses for each team (2 students play each witness = 1 for direct and 1 for cross) Attorneys: 8 attorneys per side (2 direct x2 witnesses + 2 cross x2 witnesses) Attorneys and Witnesses should work together to develop expected answers
