Before Pearl Harbor Most of Europe and Asia were already at war. September 1940 The USA placed an embargo on Japan prohibiting the exports of steel and aviation fuel. April 1941 Japan signs a neutrality agreement with Soviet Union. June 1941 USA stops Japan’s ability to buy oil. Define red terms in your own words.

December 7th, A quiet Sunday morning. Just before 8:00 am the first wave of Japanese planes begins attacking. After two hours over 3,500 Americans were killed or wounded. All 8 battleships of the Pacific Fleet were damaged or sunk At least 1,177 people died when the USS Arizona exploded and sank. December 8th, The USA enters the war! Concentration Camps Why did the US government place
NO- It is an Internment Camp for Japanese Americans! After Pearl Harbor the government created hundreds of these camps and forced Japanese Americans to live in them. Many were only allowed to take a few belongings and were only given 48 hours to evacuate their homes. Is this a German concentration camp? Why did the US government place Japanese Americans into these camps?

The Atomic Bomb Fast Facts: What did the United States
First one dropped August 6th, 1945 on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Second one dropped August 9th, 1945 on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. Nicknames for bombs “Little Boy” and “Fat Man” Ended with Japan’s unconditional surrender to the United States Pakistan was the last country to create a nuclear bomb in 1998. What did the United States mean when they said Japan must have "unconditional surrender"?

Reasons For 1. Pay Japan back for Pearl Harbor 2. End the war quickly 3. Make it okay to have spent so much money on creating it 4. As an experiment to see if it would work Reasons Against 1.
