1 Re-launch of Behaviour Policy 2013

2 At Ball Green Primary School the key to our positive behaviour management policy is nurture.
Talk about nurture…showing care for individuals and the growth of the individual as a person

3 Why do children misbehave?
Rules and boundaries are not understood, are not clear or consistent Social /emotional factors Educational difficulties Non-engagement / boredom Avoidance To gain attention or a reaction Medical and/or diagnosed condition Poor relationship with staff As a staff we have looked at and considered the reasons why children misbehave. Here are some of the key reasons.

4 Going for Gold! Behaviour policy....showing key points but staff need to go away and read and then sign with AF to show they are clear with the expectations of the behaviour policy

5 Low level disruption / rudeness / lack of respect
Gold Pupils continue to show exceptional behaviour, are courteous and consistently follow rules and routines Silver Good behaviour, courteous, respectful and on task. Following agreed rules and routines. Green All pupils begin the day at the green stage of the Going for Gold chart Yellow Warning Low level disruption / rudeness / lack of respect 2 way process Positive behaviour system... Can move back from red although consequence should still be followed Red Consequence More significant example of the above / physical aggression / if warning cards have no impact upon behaviour.

6 Rewards For consistent adherence to rules and routines, hard work, effort, courtesy and respect: Praise Stickers Team points Take work to another teacher / Senior leader Take class Superhero to Headteacher Pupil of the week certificate in Celebration Assembly Exceptional achievement or endeavour in any area: Swap Shop Stars [Children earn stars worth 5p and they can then purchase items from the Swap Shop] Headteacher’s award in Celebration Assembly Class prize e.g. offsite visit, whole class in-school treat Additional rewards are given for high percentage / improved attendance [individual and whole class] CONSISTENT, CONSTANT REWARDS!!! PRAISE....VOICE....ROLE MODELS

7 Consequences Yellow Warning – reason for card is explained to the child and a chance is given to put right the behaviour. Red Consequence – the child to attend lunchtime study support with a Senior Leader to complete work which has been missed due to poor behaviour. Note in planner and discussion with parents regarding behaviour. Use of inappropriate language, bullying or violence result in an instant red consequence. ‘Time out’ with a Senior Leader [LP, EB or KJ] Senior Leader to decide if discussion with DHT / HT is necessary. Three or more red consequences in a week – observation of behaviour and safety strategies by a senior leader, after school detention, discussion with parents, behaviour programme to implemented Children should not be ignored or removed from classroom......follow consequences through..idle threats children will begin to catch on...DO NOT shout!!! Use other staff to support you as you would with good behaviour. LG/LC final resort else children have no further step...LP,Eb,KJ to decide if taken to DHt/HT.

8 Examples. Use member of staff as example. e. g
Examples.... Use member of staff as example...e.g. They mess with the paper...yellow card..is this fair? Have they received a warning? Do they understand why they’ve got a yellow card?? NO! Neither will children....use of ‘talk’
