Effective Teachers Effective Teachers SIG schools staffed predominately by Levels 3, 4, and 5 teachers out performed all others –Recruitment and retention of high performing teachers –Placement and support to novice teachers Job-embedded professional development –Focus on collaboration –Structured process for PLC meetings –Grade level and vertical planning

Extended Learning Time Higher performing schools –Added time to the school day –Maximized existing time within the day –Altered the ELT plan as student needs changed –Provided dedicated time for teacher collaboration

Use of Data Higher performing schools have instituted a plan to collect and use multiple types of data to drive instruction Multiple ways of looking at success, immediate and over time –Consistent formative assessment administered quarterly –Consistent collection and examination of leading indicator data (i.e. discipline referrals, student and teacher attendance, chronic absenteeism) –Collective examination of student work –Team-based approach focused specifically on student outcomes
