5 Definition of Goal The result or achievement toward which effort is directed or aimed, a destination.

6 GOAL Goal Setting Helps Us Accomplish Something Dribbling Left Handed New Dismount from the Beam Getting a Win

7 GOAL We Prepare, Plan & Play to “Win”… But “Winning” is not our PURPOSE

8 Definition of Purpose The reason for which something exists or is done.

9 PURPOSE Dribbling Left Handed = New Dismount from the Beam = Winning a Game = Overcoming Adversity Moving Outside of Comfort Zone Working Together with Others

10 Goals and Purpose GOALS have a beginning and an end. PURPOSE does not. Our PURPOSE is what we live for. -Tony Dungy

12 If we aren’t intentional about our PURPOSE and… If our GOALS aren’t in alignment with our PURPOSE, then… Winning becomes our PUPROSE and… we will do anything to achieve it.

25 We play to create a place of belonging We play to develop the inner lives of the students who participate. We play to give students something that will sustain them beyond their 4 years in high school. More…

26 Become Aware “Adults choose very little in their free time where there isn’t enjoyment, that they aren’t passionate about and without purpose.” -Tony Wagner, Creating Innovators

27 Include Fun Understand your child wants their choices to include fun. Allow them to have fun!

28 Find the Right Balance Remember, it is only a game and students want to enjoy their experience.

29 Give the Right Feedback “I love to watch you play” is the only thing you have to say when the game is over.
