1 Welcome to Mrs. Wilson’s class! We will learn to do things you never thought possible.

2 6 th, 7 th, and 8 th grade Math! You will learn very challenging math. You all have the potential to perform well. You will use your prior knowledge to build upon more concepts. Standards Based Grading You will become super heros

5 Prompt To Class for Math and Discovery Wait at the door against wall to see if class is ready to switch Enter main door Gather supplies Pencil/colored pencils binder Paper if needed Calculator for math Sit in your seat Begin opener if one is listed on the board Write learning target down at top of paper for notes

6 On The Board You will find: Plan of the Day (POD) Learning Target Class opener Resources Translation What we will be doing What you will know by the end of class What to begin when you arrive to class either notes or enter slip What you need to be prepared

7 Whole Classroom Instructions See staff’s hand raised and hear “I need your attending skills.” Stop what you are doing Give eye contact to staff Quietly wait for instruction Ask questions to clarify and validate

8 Class time Note taking-Interactive notebooks(majority of time) Individual Instruction or small group Independent work on skill or activity. Group or partner activity Discussion Assessments Individual assignment Dreambox –online math skills program Exit slip or concluding assignments Google classroom We work Bell to Bell Last 5 minutes reflecting on learning target

9 Dismissal from Class Mrs. Wilson will get the class’ attention. Wrap-up tasks will be given at this time. Complete your wrap-up tasks-put away binder, turn in assignments completed, log off computer… Wait for Mrs. Wilson to conference with each on learning target sheets. Last 5 min. When Mrs. Wilson says, “Have a great rest of the day,” you are welcome to leave to your next class.

10 General rules Asking a Question Raise hand-during a pause of instruction or activity Wait for Mrs. Wilson’s response Ask using what you know about the information Be sure to use the restrooms during restroom break time Asking for a drink of water can occur only during individual work time or a pause between activities No off topic conversation

11 Couch time The couch and chair are not to be used upon entering the door. If this occurs, the student will be banned from the area. Can only be used during Advisory time, circle-up, Dreambox, and individual work time. However, at any time the student does not show progress in work assignments, couch time will be taken away. At any time a student is seen laying on the couch or with their feet on the couch, then couch time will be taken away for a period of time.

15 Completed Work Please, please, please don’t hand it to me! Write your name and date at top. Review to ensure completion. Put in the completed work tray with your grade and subject Keep notebooks in designated grade and subject area Always fill in your learning targets and your self assessment
