May 13rd 2009 TANGO collaboration 11 Experimental Hall Extention project Creation of ~7,500sqm of « golden slab », for nano-experiments. Possibility to extend up to 13 beamlines at 110m/120m. Creation of 1 LOB with ~4,000sqm of labs, offices, multi-purpose areas… Satellite buildings for « extra long beamlines » (to enable a length of 150/250m instead of 110m) Future extension possibilities are kept for labs, partnerships, … 28th April 09E. Bruas, Project Manager11

May 13rd 2009 TANGO collaboration 12 Main principle for the extensions 28th April 0912E. Bruas, Project Manager Extensions without LOB

May 13rd 2009 TANGO collaboration 13 EX2 project: timescale 2009: –June 2009: Council will be invited to approve the recommendation to place a contract with architect compagny –July 2009: start of the detailed design studies, 2010: –Validation of the design reports and call for tender to be launched for the building companies –March 2011: start of works 2011: –Building works –Mid 2011: Shutdown of the facilities (3 to 4 months to be confirmed), to allow the main excavation works, networks rerouting and slab creation… (which will produce vibration, dust, services cut-off…) 2012: –Around mid 2012: full commissioning of the buildings, extension of the beamlines can start… 28th April 0913E. Bruas, Project Manager

May 13rd 2009 TANGO collaboration 14 Development of the joint site ILL/ESRF « Project Contract State-Region - CPER » October 08: signature of the « Site Contract » by the local authorities, particularly for the Large Scale Facilities (ESRF and ILL) for a total amount of 15M€: 2009: An additional budget could be added to build IBS2 The main objective is to develop partnership facilities and site visibility: to develop ambitious research programmes in collaboration with external users of the highest scientific excellence to improve the on-site science support to users to boost the academic programme by better opportunities (PhD thesis students,…) to implement a platform with better support for industrial and applied research activities 28th April 0914E. Bruas, Project Manager

May 13rd 2009 TANGO collaboration 18 SR-BPM completed 32 cells * 7 BPMs = 224 Libera Brilliance BPMLibera TANGO server from SOLEIL BPMLibera TANGO server from SOLEIL –Difficulties to stick with a common version: Libera firmware not the same Different way to use the Libera. E.g. Offsets, Turn by turn Specific needs to each institut. E.g arctan algorithm, Incoherencies BPMLiberaAll TANGO device server BPMLiberaAll TANGO device server –Collect the X and Z positions for the SOFB – Make current dependancy corrections – Make HDB positions archiving – Will allow to make Turn by Turn measurement. Applications: Applications: – Debugging (uses ATK panel) – Configuration tools: first installation, upgrades, TANGO configuration. – Clients: SRCO, LABview survey application
