Coasts Part A – Think about the Dorset Coast, make a film, write a poem or rap about why it is so amazing. This needs to be handed into teachers, but you can also enter it into a competition to win a Kindle Fire Enter it at http://www.dorsetforyou.com/capturingmycoasthttp://www.dorsetforyou.com/capturingmycoast There are webpages at the end to help you with ideas. Part B - Pick 1 coastal process – include images, diagrams, examples and detailed explanations to discuss the process. Here are some to choose from – long shore drift, rotational slip, differing rates of erosion, weathering, landslides, deposition, accumulation of sand, cliff collapse and the process behind it. All this section to be completed on a word document, or by hand. Max one side for each part.

Task 2 Locate 8 of the world’s most famous Rivers. Use a world map as the central focus point and locate around it. Use A3 paper Annotate and Illustrate around the World map with a maximum of 70 words telling the story of each River. The story could include ‘length’, ‘source/mouth location’, ‘volume’, ‘significance to the local area’ (social, economic, environmental), ‘famous towns and cities along it’, ‘engineering experienced’, ‘characteristics’. Make a River ‘Top Ten Interesting Facts’ box to accompany the distribution map.

Summary Produce 2 A3 distribution sheets to highlight the location and key facts about some of the World’s Rivers. Make it look great and original On a separate piece of paper write down 8 things they have learnt about eachfrom the research completed. It has to be something new which they did not know before.
