2 Revised PEF Conceptual Framework We have not created a new framework; rather, we have rearticulated our vision, mission, and learning outcomes to emphasize our focus on research, theory, and practice in urban contexts. Informed and Empowered Committed Engaged Because of the revisions to the conceptual framework, it is necessary to link our key assessments to the revised unit learning outcomes.

3 Responsibilities for Program Faculty Make sure that there is a rubric (5-point) for each key assessment (6-8 for initial; 4 for advanced). Convert each rubric to a LiveText assessment document if it was created in another format, such as “Word.” Tag each rubric with the revised PEF Conceptual Framework learning outcomes. Tag each rubric with relevant national standards (INTASC, NBPTS and SPA standards). (see alignment matrix). “Share” each LiveText rubric with department LT administrator who will create a document authored by the administrator account. Identify courses in which key assessments will be used. Work with LT administrator to create assignments that will be linked to key assessment rubrics in LiveText. Work with LT administrator to set up schedule for reports.

4 Notes: Portfolio rubrics can be divided into sections that address more than one domain. Designated sections can be counted as individual key assessments. All key assessments should be administered through a designated course in LiveText. Students may or may not need to submit an assignment in order to be assessed. STARS surveys will be completed by students and faculty this month for summer 2009. New LiveText rubric will replace STARS in summer 2010.

5 Responsibilities for Department LiveText Administrator Assist faculty in transferring assessment rubrics to LiveText documents (as needed) Assist faculty in loading assignments that have key assessments into LiveText Convert faculty’s rubrics to administrator rubrics Electronically link key assessment rubrics to the course assignments Run reports and send to program coordinators as scheduled

6 Responsibilities for Course Instructors/Supervisors Instructors/supervisors teaching courses that contain key assessments are required to use the assessment rubric to evaluate students on key assessments. If the course does not contain a key assessment, the instructor may choose not to use LiveText for the course.

7 Log in to your LT account. Locate the course. Click on the progress bar. Select student to be evaluated (yellow or red). Click on the rubric. Evaluate student by clicking in appropriate box. Add comments if desired. Submit Assessment. Steps for Using Assessment Rubrics in a Course
