How do children in my school use the internet? 3.7.15 By Josh Mistry
2
Introduction My name is Josh Mistry. I am 9 years old in Year 4 at Wavendon Gate School. My research topic is how do children in my school use the internet. I chose this topic because I enjoy using the internet myself and wanted to find out what other children in my school thought. Also I wanted to find out if there was a difference between how boys used the internet compared to girls.
3
Methodology I gave out 70 questionnaires and received 47 back. My questionnaire had both open and closed questions. I analysed my closed questions by tallying a mark for each answer given. I analysed my open questions by coding them and tallying the most popular answers.
4
I kept my research anonymous by not saying anyone's names who completed my research. I kept all of my data that I received confidential. All of the participants in my research had to sign a consent form. Ethical issues

Conclusion Because I only received 47 questionnaires, my results could not say the whole school said what I received. One of the main findings that I received was that the most popular website not allowed is Facebook. Also, I was surprised that YouTube was one of the most popular websites used because there could be inappropriate videos on there.
21
If I was to do my research again then I would either make the questions clearer to understand or only give my questionnaires out to the older years (years 5 and 6) This is because a lot of the responses I got back by the younger years (years 2,3 and 4) didn’t really make sense to me. It is possible that the pupils could have been influenced by their teacher or other children. I would do interviews. If I was to do my research again…
