What is the HOG Programme? Hampshire Own Grown is a competitive- entry Talent Development Programme that aims to identify and develop leaders of the future 8 th year, consistently revised and updated It is considered a successful and prestigious development opportunity

Programme purpose Identify high potential people and develop their leadership skills and behaviours to meet the immediate and future needs of the organisation Grow the performance of the organisation through accelerating individual performance Develop a cadre of managers and leaders who demonstrate the very best of public service values and business acumen, and so exemplify the desired culture of the organisation Develop and retain talented individuals who can act as a resource for the organisation

What’s different about it? Competitive entry Extremely high expectations of participants Expectations of strong partnership working across service areas and between participants A team of internal and external experts to design, deliver and facilitate the programme, bringing leading edge academic and practical experience Equips talented individuals for current and future roles, extensive programme Access to Chief Officers while working on real organisational questions

What is the programme looking for from applicants? Applicants for both Future Leaders and Graduates, will be assessed via their application form, and at the Development Centre, in 5 Areas: 1: Current performance 2: Business and contextual awareness 3: Leadership and emotional Intelligence 4: High performance commitment 5: Openness to innovation and change

What commitment is required? Up to 14 of these days are programmed in and the rest are negotiable, depending on how long you use to complete CMI and RADICAL assignments Ensure you discuss with your manager in advance 20-25 Days

How to apply Application form: 1000 word limit, evidence, range of examples, outcomes, what you need to develop, guidance on form This is what your department will use to shortlist you or not (some departments have additional screening) Involve your line manager as soon as possible

The Development Centre Individual Presentation As part of interview Topic sent with invitation to interview Worth about 17% Individual formal interview Questions are scored exactly as a formal job interview Worth about 50% Group Exercise Groups of 4-6 Complete a task Worth about 33%

What happens afterwards? If successful… Notified by emailed letter w/c 17 June Commence the programme If unsuccessful… Notified by email letter w/c 17 June Offered SUPPORTIVE one to one feedback and planning session
