2 How do we determine the point of view?

3 First: LOOK AT THE PRONOUNS
First-Person I, me, my, mine, we, us, ours, Second-Person you, your Third-Person he, she, her, they, them (also character's names)

4 FIRST PERSON The narrator is one of the characters. Example: Today was the worst day of my life. I had failed my driver’s license test.

5 SECOND PERSON We see 2nd person point of view mostly in instructions. Example: Tie your string on the kite. You can begin flying the kite as soon as you get outside.

6 THIRD PERSON The narrator is not one of the characters. The narrator is like a reporter telling the readers what happened. Example: She couldn’t believe her eyes. Her father had bought her a brand new sports car. He always knew that she wanted this car. To celebrate, they went out to dinner.

OBJECTIVE: The narrator does not reveal any feelings of any characters. LIMITED: The narrator reveals only the feelings of ONE character. OMNISCIENT: The narrator reveals the feelings of TWO OR MORE characters.
