(1) ARTICULATE RESULTS (2) SET PERFORM. MEASURES (3) COLLECT DATA (4) REPORT DATA (5) ANALYZE RESULTS Performance measures are data elements that tell us whether were achieving results. All performance measures that have ever existed … in the history of the universe can be derived from thinking about the quantity and quality of effort and effect. Mark Friedman, Trying Hard is Not Good Enough, p. 67. How Much? Number of incumbent workers in coachees; Number of coachees in an education or training program. How Well? Number of coachees with IDPs; Number of coachees completing training; Number training completers who received a license or certification. Better Off? Number of coachees retained for x months; Number of coachees who advanced to a new job; Number of coachees who achieved a wage gain. Percent of coachees retained for x months; Percent of coachees who advanced to a new job; Percent of coachees who achieved a wage gain. QUANTITY QUALITY EFFECT EFF0RT A DB C Importance Scale (Most to Least): A, B, C, D Control Scale (Most to Least): D, B, C, A We have the least control over the most important measures.
