9 Joint Response Team Workgroups – Nov. 5, 2008 Lessons Learned (Command Post) u Info mgmt and comms needs at a major incident are substantial – need rapid IT support u Differences in the Canadian OSC's jurisdiction and incident management systems pose obstacles to forging effective joint ICP and require large facility. u Consider option of separate ICPs with joint JIC, strong liaison and joint mtgs. u Joint Environmental Section worked well

10 Joint Response Team Workgroups – Nov. 5, 2008 Lessons Learned (JES) u Provide JES individual to support Planning Section and OSC and maintain JES connectivity u Lead and deputy assignments of JES will aid in direction and communications of JES u Update the JCP to reflect JES as best practice “Scientists and technical representatives from both countries readily found the concept of incorporating the Canadian REET and the U.S. Incident Command System version known as an Environmental Unit into one section to be highly advantageous and a best practice.”
