2 Group Delivery with Speaker The slide show is a supplement to a speaker-delivered presentation.  supports information presented by the speaker  displays graphic items that enhance communication  Presents key points for added emphasis of content **The slide show should not contain so much** information that it can substitute for the speaker!

3 Group Delivery without Speaker  Slide show is played once to an audience  Explanation or interpretation by a speaker is not required  May be displayed to entertain an audience prior to a speech or event  May be used to inform an audience about procedures

4 Continuous Loop  Played repeatedly until manually stopped  May or may not have a logical beginning & end  Often used at trade shows where people rotate through at different times throughout the day  May be used to broadcast general information, such as school announcements or changes to room locations

5 Rolling Script  Played at a moderate pace to allow for user participation  Stand-alone content  Examples: Prop for posting the lyrics of a song or the lines of a poem

6 Self-Serve  Possibly delivered via a website, such as the MS training presentations that are user-selected and interactive  Self-paced and often interactive  May have narration embedded within the presentation

7 Purposes of Hardcopies 1. To enables retention of information  Effective for content that is…  foreign to the audience  to be remembered  procedural  presented to a large group  The Handout should contain three slides per page and be large enough to read  allowing room for note taking  The amount of slides per sheet may vary by the amount of text on each slide and the space needed for taking notes  Contain color, grayscale, or black and white. (If printing on a black and white printer, select black and white or grayscale format to ensure clarity.)  Contain a footer
