+ Uploading your Footage Make a folder on your desktop label it: Insert and open up the SD card folder Drag and drop your footage into the folder you just made. Grab ALL the footage you made for this project, it will save on headaches later. Open/Start Final Cut Pro NOTE: You can upload directly from the card but risk losing the files if you pull out the card too early.

+ Uploading your Footage Part 2 Click on “FILE” then hold your mouse over “NEW” and select “EVENT.” Name your Event “Country Period # Team #” Click on the checkbox for “Create New Project” Click “OK” Use the first button on the toolbar to upload your footage. Select the folder on the desktop

Your job as editors is to build a video that makes sense… REFLECTION QUESTION: What factors, materials, tools, etc. might help you build a video that makes sense and delivers a message to your audience with purpose? Think of 1-3 answers per mini-group. 3 minute to discuss with your partner. Be ready to explain your answer. You must provide a “good” answer in order to start editing.

+ Adding A Slate Slates are used to identify the roles of each member & to name your project for easy identification. Slates usually go in the beginning of a video. Go to [T] then select [Lower Thirds] and [Information Bar] Title Your Project and Identify Group Member Names & Roles.

+ Mono to Dual Mode Audio Is your audio coming out from only 1 speaker? Check the audio meters in your dashboard. Use the following steps to fix your audio.

+ Fixing Color (Too Dark/Bright) Did you record in a dark hallway? Use the following easy fix to fix it!

+ Adding Effects Effects can further develop the “feel” of your video. Effects can also ruin your video… Find a “balance” between “just enough” to “over board.”

+ Last Step (Mood Music) A lot of music you hear on the radio or can get off iTUNES is licensed music that someone created for the purpose of making money off their talents. Royalty Free music is music created to be used without worrying about money but in exchange they ask for credit (being mentioned).
