YCC Sea Sailing 2007-08Luca Canali, YCC2 2007 ‘Do It Yourself’ Cruise The cruise has involved the participants at every stage, from the very start: –Early in the year participants decided where and when to go –Pre-cruise preparation: choosing the charter agency and the boat, ordering nautical charts –For the ‘beginners’ some extra preparation (investment? ) was organized by Rob, our skipper: basic navigation skills, outings on the lake with the surprise

YCC Sea Sailing 2007-08Luca Canali, YCC3 Who: Skipper(s) and Crew Open to all club members Particularly interesting for –Skippers who want to gain experience before ‘chartering on their own’. –Club members who have started sailing on the lake and want to put heir skills at test on the sea 2007 cruise: 1 experienced skipper, 3 SU key holders, 1 CK student, 2 ‘dinghy people‘.

YCC Sea Sailing 2007-08Luca Canali, YCC13 Conclusions 250 nautical miles, almost all the time upwind! 2 night sailing, 2 nights in a harbour, 3 nights anchored in gorgeous little bays Visited Calvi and Centuri + admired the wild coast of NW Corsica and Capraia Mild weather and good winds most of the time We avoided the crowds of the high season Cost: ~750 euros per person

YCC Sea Sailing 2007-08Luca Canali, YCC14 YCC Sea Sailing 2008 Planning another edition of the ‘do it yourself’ cruise So far I have collected a list of possible destinations, periods and people interested to join: –Croatia, Greece, Galicia, Brittany to Isles of Scilly –June, September –At least 2 skippers have shown interest You are invited to stay for a drink and a chat after this meeting if you are interested
