Agency update Overall satellite planning – Recent launches, commissioning status GPM and ALOS-2: Launched in 2014 and already operational. Data release in September (GPM) and November (ALOS-2), 2014. – Forthcoming launches GOSAT-2 (JFY 2017) GCOM-C (JFY 2016) – Major satellite events End of TRMM science operation (April 2015, NASA and JAXA) Other major events affecting the agency or its participation in GSICS – Himawari-8 capability is of great interest for JAXA. JMA and JAXA are collaborating in exchanging information, calibration, and geophysical products generation, by taking advantage of GEO/LEO complementarity. GSICS-EP-16, Boulder, 15-16 May 2015

Participation in EP, GDWG, GRWG Points of contacts/meeting participants: – EP: Keiji Imaoka – GDWG: None – GRWG: Hiroshi Murakami, Misako Kachi, Keiji Imaoka Main contribution to GDWG actions – None Main contribution to GRWG actions – Sharing experiences obtained through JAXA’s satellite missions (e.g. AMSR series, TRMM/GPM, GOSAT, GCOM-C). – JAXA GPM members are discussing inter-calibration of precipitation radars as a GSICS activity. Others – Interests in Lunar calibration activities in GSICS and participated in the lunar calibration workshop. GOSAT-CAI/TANSO, GOSAT-2, and GCOM-C have lunar- calibration functions. GSICS-EP-16, Boulder, 15-16 May 2015

Highlights of other JAXA calibration activities of interest to the EP Railroad Valley Campaign (GOSAT) – The first joint vicarious calibration campaign at Railroad Valley desert playa, NV, U.S.A., by coincident flights of OCO-2 grating spectrometer by NASA JPL and GOSAT TANSO-FTS spectrometer by JAXA together with surface and airplane observations (June 27 - July 2, 2015). Validation sensor calibration (SGLI) – Periodical calibration and intercalibration activity of SGLI validation instruments to keep consistency among various validation results. GSICS-EP-16, Boulder, 15-16 May 2015
