Radical Days and the Reign of Terror The new French government would go to war against its own citizens as well as many of the nations of Europe.

In 1795 moderates produced another constitution, the third since 1789. The Constitution of 1795 created a 5 man Directory and a two-house legislature. The Directory ruled as a dictatorship until 1799.
