RIS – what we are doing in Brandenburg - concentration on key clusters, so called technology platforms new media, information and communication technologies enabling technologies (microsystems, nanotechnologies, new materials) life sciences and biotechnologies mobility and resource management - one-stop-agency supporting enterprises and start ups - financial support for innovative enterprises - coaching programs new management technologies - coaching and financing offers for promising start ups - TT centers have to meet companies needs - enhanced competitiveness of small enterprises by creation of company networks

Formal Prerequisites the applicant is a small and medium sized enterprise (SME) –with less than 250 employees and –an annual turnover of maximum 40 Million € or an annual balance sheet sum of maximum 27 Million € –no non SME has a share of more than 25% in the company the industrial premises must be in the state of Brandenburg the venture must not yet have begun the total funding must be secured

The employment of up to two graduates from a polytechnic, institute of higher education or university with the following specialisations: - management of; (i) innovative projects (ii) manufacturing (iii) the environment - marketing with a technological emphasis - product development including preparation and design - business management The workplace must be in the state of Brandenburg SME, manufacturing trades and service industries A grant for the taxable gross salary for at least 24 months per graduate - in the first year:50% maximum of 20.000 Euro - in the second year: 40% maximum of 10.000 Euro Scientific Assistant

With the following characteristics: - The development and implementation of technologically new or improved manufacturing processes or products, with respect to their market viability. (This can involve all phases of the innovative process from the development of prototypes to the final introduction to market). - The necessary economical aspects with reference to technology management - The consultations or training sessions must differ from the daily business operations. SME, manufacturing trades and service industries in the state of Brandenburg. A grant to the amount of 50 % of the eligible costs for consultations or training sessions, up to 25,000 € per eligible company per year. Knowledge Transfer

Assistance to scientists at Brandenburg universities in obtaining profitable commercialization of their research results Generation, utilization and market targeting of intellectual property rights. Offering enterprises utilization of patented scientific know how for innovative products and new markets Promoting transfer of scientific knowledge. results (November 2003): - 80 projects - 47 patent applications - 3 license agreements, 2 further under preparation - 3 options agreements, 4 further under preparation
